This should Ring A Bell, [Lincoln County braces for tax hike]
November 1, 2010
MERRILL — Lincoln County homeowners might have to dig deeper if a proposed property tax hike of more than 6 percent gains approval.
The Lincoln County Board has compiled a preliminary 2011 budget that includes a $3 million increase in county spending, from $51 million in 2010 to $54 million in 2011. The increase is being driven primarily by changes in social services and by building projects approved years ago.
“This year, it’s going to be a little more severe impact on the average resident,” said Dan Leydet, Lincoln County finance director.
Merrill and Tomahawk residents will see a 6.55 percent increase in property taxes — to $539, or $33 more than in 2010 on a $100,000 home. In the towns within the county, homeowners will pay $565 on that same home, a 6.78 percent increase.
Lincoln County leaders are scheduled to meet Nov. 9 for a hearing and a vote on the proposed budget. Lincoln County residents are invited to attend the meeting to weigh in on any issue regarding the budget. A meeting location has not yet been established. End of quote.
When is this going to stop? With all the spending on the new county sevice building and renovations to others they don’t have or don’t know were the meeting will be held? This is a line of CRAP! There should be no surprise that there is less tax money! Where have these people been for the past two years, under a rock? Do these people think that things are going to get better with the Dems plans to “Fundamentally Change America” IE: Obama Care.
This is what I think, Hope And Change is on the way. And it’s not the Change they were Hoping for. VOTE!
